The Grand NYC

Official rules

Free to enter. No purchase necessary. No wagering. Decided by skill. The prize is a trophy for your club.

01No purchase, no entry fee, no wagering

The Grand NYC is free to enter and free to play. No purchase is necessary, no entry fee is charged to players, and no wagers of any kind are accepted. Nothing you do in this contest can cost you money.

A tennis club may optionally pay a one-time fee to be added to the contest if it is not already listed. That fee is paid by the club, never by a player, and it does not affect scoring, standings, or the outcome in any way.

02Who can enter

Open to anyone aged 18 or over with a valid mobile number that can receive text messages. One entry per person, and each person plays for exactly one club.

Which club you play for is self-declared. We do not verify club membership, and we ask that you play for the club you actually play at.

03How to enter

Choose your club and sign up at thegrand.nyc, or scan the code on your club's flyer. You will be texted a code to confirm your number. That is the whole entry process.

You may change which club you play for at any time up to August 27, 2026, when picks open. After that your club is fixed for the rest of the contest.

04How scoring works

The contest is decided by the US Open. You pick match winners round by round in both the men's singles and the women's singles draw. Points from both draws add together to make your personal score.

Picks are made per round as each round is set, so you can join after the tournament has started and score from that point on. You cannot pick a match that has already been decided.

Scoring follows official results as reported by our tennis data provider. A match contributes nothing until it is resolved.

05How a club's score works

A club's score is the sum of its best 10 player scores. Its other players still play, and a better round moves anyone into the counting group.

A club must have at least 10 players who have submitted picks before it enters the main contest. Clubs below that appear in the qualifying section and join the contest as soon as they reach 10, at any point during the tournament.

Ties are broken by the club's single best player score, then by the number of its players who have scored, then alphabetically.

06The prize

The club with the highest score at the end of the US Open wins the Grand NYC cup: a trophy for the club to display, and bragging rights over every other club in the city.

There is no cash prize, and no prize of any kind is awarded to individual players. The trophy is awarded to the club, not to a person.

07Texts

We text you a code to sign in, and a short nudge when a new round opens or a round finishes. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

08Fair play

One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to inflate a club's score, or entering under a club you have no connection to in order to distort the standings, may result in removal of those entries.

4GRAND may correct standings where a data provider issues a correction, and will do so openly.

09Who runs this

The Grand NYC is run by 4GRAND. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Tennis Association, the US Open, the ATP, the WTA, or any tennis club named in the contest. Club names are used only to identify the team a player is playing for.
